The most important thing you need to know is...............
"HOW TO CHOOSE A SAFE"
There are four main types -
- Wall Safes
- Under Floor Safes
- Floorboard
- Free Standing Safes
Ask yourself the following questions, but remember if the Safe is
for everyday use i.e. for Jewellery, it must be accessible and convenient
to use, otherwise you wont use it!
- What do you want to keep in it?
- Is it because you want one or is your Insurance Company specifying that you need one?
- Where do you want to put it?
WALL SAFES

Normally
small inside, must be fitted in on an exterior wall or disused chimney breast.
Often fitting costs more than the safe. Some redecoration is necessary after
installation. Small insurance rating normally £750.00.

UNDER FLOOR SAFES

Much
larger than Wall Safes, and set into concrete below floor level. Must be
fitted with damp resisting membrane to help prevent items in the Safe becoming
discoloured and damp. Ideal for use in Commercial applications
with a deposit tube for securing cash, leaving a small amount of float in
the till. Fitting in accordance with the manufacturers instructions will
give you a much higher Insurance Rating - anything from £2,000 to £25,000
Cash, £20,000 to £100,000 Jewellery. Can be inconvenient to use. For Auto
Garages and MOT stations the safe MUST come with documentation to support
an Insurance Rating of £6,000 overnight cash cover.

FLOORBOARD SAFES

These are fitted into the Joists, and are useful for small domestic items, are are not Fire Resistant.

FREESTANDING SAFES

These come in all shapes, sizes, insurance ratings and are purpose
made to protect either cash and valuables, paper or media discs. Normally,
these are easiest to fit being bolted to a wooden or concrete floor at the
base or to an external wall at the rear. One advantage is you can take it
with you if you move house! A freestanding safe is easiest and more accessible
to use.

If the safe is being specified by your Insurance Company, they will
provide you with a list of models that they will accept. We can then choose
one that suits your requirements as well as their specification.
Having decided on the first two questions, we can consider where to put the safe.
One tip - You will always find more items to store in the safe than
you first thought. Always go for the larger one if possible.
You now only have to choose if you want an Electronic Digital Lock Combination or simple key lock.

For most domestic applications, having chosen what to put inside
it i.e. Passports, Insurance Documents, Jewellery, Cash - Ideally you will
need a Safe that:
- Is large enough for these items.
- Has a high enough Insurance Rating for the valuables stored inside.
- Some protection against fire.
N.B. Fire resisting wallets are available to protect documents if they are thought to be particularly vulnerable.
SPECIALIST SAFES
These are designed for a specific need i.e. Collection Safes for Vehicles. Driver has no key.
Till / Rapid Deposit facility to minimise risk of counter theft.
If you have a specific requirement we can manufacture something to
suit your needs, from security doors to complete rooms.
When all is said and done and you have chosen your safe, it should give you years of service.

However, we do offer a Safe Service Department to open, cut keys and change locks should your security be compromised.
N.B.
Insurance Ratings are approximate only and may vary due to area conditions
and location. Please check with your underwriter.
